Our vision, from the beginning, was for Fifth Third Field and the Huntington Center to be more than athletic venues. They were meant to spur urban renewal. The ballpark and arena have served as the impetus for rebirth in the city’s Warehouse District and downtown.

The momentum of the ballpark and the arena was the key element in the creation of Hensville in 2016. The entertainment district—built in restored historic buildings and a reclaimed parking lot—is now home to businesses, restaurants, and an urban park.

Twenty years ago, the intersection of Washington and Monroe looked very different; quiet streets, vacant buildings, and little foot traffic. Since then, a powerful transformation has taken place, made possible by the dedication of the community and the belief of those who saw potential where others saw decline. Through years of hard work, investment, and shared vision, the area has become a vibrant destination filled with energy, activity, and pride. Today, millions of people are drawn to this very spot, not just for what it offers, but for the story of resilience and revival it represents.

The hits Keep Coming

Whether you’re a die-hard follower or just in town for the weekend, our message is simple: you don’t have to be a superfan—just up for super fun.

Toledo’s rich sports heritage shines through in its 70-year hockey history, highlighted by several championship-winning teams that have energized generations of fans. Just as deeply rooted is the legacy of the Toledo Mud Hens, a team with a 160-year story that even found its way into pop culture through popular television shows like “M*A*S*H” and “A.P. Bio” and 80’s box office hit movies “Major League” and “Brewster’s Millions.”

The continued success of the Toledo Mud Hens, Toledo Walleye, and the development of Hensville has brought renewed energy to the city. These organizations have not only delivered winning seasons and unforgettable experiences for fans, but have also played a key role in revitalizing downtown Toledo. From drawing crowds and creating jobs to supporting local causes and offering family-friendly entertainment, their collective impact on the community has been both lasting and transformative.
